In a recent interview, Sega’s product manager, Jim Dyer, looked back on the more recent past of the “Sonic” brand and acknowledged that it had not been too happy in the past few years.
On the contrary, the hopes and expectations of the fans were disappointed at regular intervals. According to Dyer, although attempts were made to modernize the brand, this project failed several times. An event that makes no secret. Despite all, Sega is not willing to let the franchise fall.
To return to old strength
At the moment, Sega is about to address both new players and old fans. Therefore, two new “Sonic” adventures are currently under construction: the 16-bit “SonicMania” as well as “Sonic Forces”, with which Sega finally wants to modernize the brand successfully and return it to its former strength. “SonicForces is an own initiative, a wider game, a different kind of Sonic than we’ve done in the past, it’s about reviving Sonic,” Dyer continued.
He says, “I do not want to say that with Forces, we want to make the brand relevant again, because that’s probably not the right expression, but we understand that we have a brand-name tag in our hands Sega wants to go back to what she should be. ”
While SonicMania will be released for the PC, the Xbox One, Nintendo’s Switch and the PlayStation 4 in the summer, “SonicForces” is currently scheduled for release in this year’s Christmas business.
