With “Evil Genius 2” Rebellion announced a successor to the cult title “Evil Genius” from the year 2004. Since the development was only started a few months ago, the sequel will be waiting for a while.
After rumors were made over the past few years, the developers of Rebellion left the proverbial cat out of the bag and officially announced the development of “Evil Genius 2”.
The official confirmation of the project was made by Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley, who, in a video released today, loses a few words about the successor’s development. Unfortunately, the whole thing has a small, but not to be underestimated hook: According to rebellion, the work on “Evil Genius 2” started only in March of the year.
Evil Genius 2: The successor emerges from rebellion
In practice, this means that some time will go into the country before “Evil Genius 2” sees the light of the world. The first part was published by the Elixir Studios in 2004 and scored with the interesting game mechanics as well as the humor.
After the Elixir Studios were closed, the Rebellion leaders decided to buy the brand. As Kingsley continues to say, “Evil Genius 2” is the first real-time strategy title based on the in-house Asura engine. Rebellion is a new version of the Evil Genius 2 game, but it does not end there.
Further details on the successor would like to call the British studio in due course.
