According to the figures of the retailer Mindfactory, AMD had been able to sell several months more processors than Intel since August. But after the release of the Coffee-Lake processors, the picture has now turned again, mainly because of the Core i7-8700K – at least at Mindfactory.
Since August 2017, AMD has had much success with its Ryzen processors and was able to sell more processors in the retail sector in part than Intel – at least at Mindfactory. The coffee Lake Intel processors in response to Ryzen were received after the official publication for several weeks difficult or at inflated prices, but that had changed even before the end of the year 2017th As the current statistics of the dealer Mindfactory show, this also affects very clearly on the sold processors.
As recently as November 2017, AMD had a share of 58 percent, clearly ahead of Intel with 42 percent and was thus as far in the lead as in many years no longer. But in December, the picture has completely turned and the Core i7-8700K was not only the best-selling processor in Mind Factory, but that saw to it that Intel went back with 54 to 46 percent increase in units sold in the lead.
The data now available for January 2018 show, according to a post on Reddit that Intel was able to expand its own share thanks to the Core i7-8700K more demand. With 58 percent for Intel and 42 percent for AMD, the shares are now back to the level of May 2017, however, the absolute sales in January 2018 are significantly higher. The 42 percent for AMD therefore also means that the number of processors sold is higher than, for example, in July 2017, although AMD was already at 49 percent.
Overall, however, shows that especially the Core i7-8700K and the Core i5-8600 slow even with six cores are still quite popular when they are readily available and are sold at normal prices. But a certain role could also play that now is known that AMD will bring new Ryzen versions with more power on the market in April 2018 – may have to wait some AMD customers So now prefer the three months from, rather than a current Ryzen to to buy.
