Analysts from IDC assume after a data recovery that the Xbox One X and the Playstation 4 Pro in the USA for the Christmas business will sell about equally well.
The Christmas shop 2017 is not far and therefore the question whether the Xbox One X or Playstation 4 Pro will sell better. Analysts at IDC believe that they can answer this question at least for the US. According to a survey, both of them are about to hit the same level. Considering that the Playstation 4 Pro is already some time on the market and the Xbox enjoys a home advantage in the US, the result for Microsoft is rather sobering. However, the Playstation 4 Pro is also cheaper than the Xbox One X offered – which should be the case despite some performance.
The Playstation 4 is expected to reach a market share of 22.2 percent in the fourth quarter of this and the first quarter of next year, the Xbox One following closely to 21.6 percent. The Nintendo Switch and the Playstation 4 Slim come in the evaluation to 13.6 and 13.5 percent, while the Xbox One reached 7.7 percent. The Xbox One S and the aging Xbox 360 create 7.3 and 7.4 percent. The PlayStation 3 and Wii U. are far behind, reaching just 3.5 and 3.3 percent.
Overall, the Xbox platform with a market share of 44 percent in the Christmas business can be placed in front of the Playstation platform, which reaches a market share of 39.2 percent. Nintendo still creates 16.9 percent in the US, but with its switch also plays in a completely different device and performance class. The authors of the investigation state that Microsoft has succeeded in the US, to stabilize itself on the same level with Sony.
