Internally Microsoft does not rely on the development of Triple-A titles not only on the in-house teams. Instead, the Redmonder is also looking for independent developers working on exclusive Xbox projects.
As the managers of Microsoft confirmed in the past several weeks, the internal studios are currently working on various new projects.
While Rare’s “Sea of Thieves” or “State of Decay 2” has already been officially announced by Undead Labs, 343 Industries and The Coalition are currently working on new platforms for “Halo” and “Gears of War” at a later date should be disclosed. Apparently, however, Microsoft does not rely solely on the internal studios for future projects.
Xbox One: Microsoft is obviously looking to work with independent studios
Instead, the Redmonder is increasingly seeking to work with independent studios to realize new and, in some cases, exclusive projects for the Xbox One. This was confirmed in an extensive interview, Feargus Urquhart, CEO of Obsidian Entertainment.
Obsidian Entertainment was currently working on the Rollenspiel “Stormlands”, which was originally intended exclusively for the Xbox One. If Microsoft’s actions bear fruit, however, it is to be expected that appropriate announcements are still to be expected in a while. In the near future, Microsoft repeatedly promised that future projects should only be announced when they have reached a certain level of development.
