Already some times, fans have been pushing old classics technically into the current generation. This happened also with “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time”, with which the level Kokiri Forest in the Unreal Engine 4 was adjusted. Fans can convince themselves with a demo.
Once and for all, classics from bygone days were rebuilt by fans and revived in terms of technology, such as “Tomb Raider 2”. The same thing happened with the Nintendo title “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time”. The game made its debut in 1998 on the N64, later followed by implementations for the GameCube or the Wii. In 2011, a revised reissue for the Nintendo 3DS came on the market.
The fan “CryZENx” has caught the soon to be twenty-year-old offshoot and the Kokiri Forest a remake donated. The video below shows the technical generational leap. But it’s not just a simple overhaul: the cutscenes and game mechanics have also been superseded. Players can explore the forest, interact with objects, and shop at local shops. In addition, the inventory system and enemies have been taken to a new level.
Those who are interested can even lend a hand to the fan remake. A free demo version is available on the official homepage.
