“Half-Life 2 VR” has reached Steam Greenlight in a new version and can be supported by you accordingly. This project is a mod with which the two Virtual Reality headsets Oculus Rift and HTC Vive are supported.
There are only a few compelling VR games available so far. Whether the remastered version of “Half-Life 2: VR” can be included in the list of outstanding experiences remains to be seen. At least on Steam Greenlight the project has now landed. “Half-Life 2: VR” is a mod for the PC classic from the year 2004. “Worm Slayer” and his Modder team are responsible for the implementation.
Promised are features like:
• Support for modern VR headsets (Oculus Rift, HTC Vive)
•Motion Controller Support
•Updated effects, textures, models, and maps
•For VR GUI created 3D
•Realistic weapon interactions (manual loading, viewing from all sides, etc)
•Various methods of locomotion
Added to this are the HDR support and a special 3D user interface for VR. As mentioned in the list, “Half-Life 2 VR” is controlled with the Vive controllers or Oculus Touch. In addition, there is talk of completely revised weapon models. The
VR modification is to be provided free of charge to all buyers of the normal version of “Half-Life 2” plus Episode 1 & 2. For more details, check out the Steam Greenlight page.
