Versus Evil and the people in charge of Stoic have announced that the strategic roll-out “The Banner Saga” will no longer be released for the PlayStation Vita. The development was stopped.
Versus Evil and Stoic have announced that the development of the PlayStation Vita version of the strategic roll game “The Banner Saga” has been discontinued. Despite a lot of work and resources, the publisher decided to cancel the project and not bring the “The Banner Saga” brand to the Sony handhelds.
The PlayStation Vita version has been in development for two years. After Sony Interactive Entertainment took over the lead and submitted the project to Code Mystics, the effort, time, and cost have significantly exceeded the budget. In the end, “The Banner Saga” on the PlayStation Vita did not go well enough.
“The developers on Vita have been progressing well enough, but due to several engine aspects of Banner Saga, we found out that it was not so easy to make the game portable,” the official said. When you managed to get the game running on the Vita, you came across strong performance problems, which ultimately led to the development. The extra time and funding that would be required to publish the game in the hoped-for quality would not be worth it, despite the greatest efforts.
